After a distinguished 50-year career marked by vision, leadership, and service, Gary Baker now embarks on a well-deserved retirement, leaving behind a legacy that has profoundly shaped both the architectural profession and the community he so passionately served. A proud graduate of Midwestern State University and Texas Tech University, Gary earned his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences before becoming a licensed architect in Texas and Oklahoma, as well as a Texas Registered Interior Designer. His credentials reflect not only technical mastery but also a lifelong commitment to excellence in design and construction.
Gary’s professional journey was defined by more than just buildings—it was about building people. As Director for the Texas Society of Architects (2006–2007), President of the AIA Wichita Falls Chapter (2005 & 2014), Vice President (2004), and Associate Representative (1993), he led with humility and purpose. His involvement with the Construction Specifications Institute, the Design Build Institute of America, and the Better Business Bureau further demonstrated his dedication to ethical, collaborative practice.
But perhaps Gary’s most enduring legacy lies in the culture he cultivated within the company. He brought people together not just as colleagues, but as a family—fostering an environment of trust, mentorship, and mutual respect. His steady presence, warm encouragement, and unwavering belief in the potential of others created a workplace where people felt seen, valued, and inspired.
Beyond the office, Gary gave generously of his time and heart—serving over 20 years on the YMCA Board and 8 years with the Northwest Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America. His impact rippled far beyond the drafting room, touching lives across the community.
As Gary steps into retirement, he leaves behind more than a career—he leaves a legacy of leadership, compassion, and unity. He will be deeply missed, but his influence will continue to shape the firm and the people within it for years to come.
With over 35 years of experience in the construction industry, Joseph Rodriguez steps into his role as Owner and Principal of GB Construction with a deep sense of purpose and pride. A U.S. Army veteran, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Joseph brings not only technical expertise but also a steadfast commitment to integrity, service, and community—values that have long defined the spirit of GB Construction.
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Business Administration and Management from Midwestern State University. Throughout his career, he has successfully led a wide range of construction and renovation projects from concept to completion. His strengths in design coordination, project management, and construction execution have consistently ensured that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Having previously worked alongside founder Gary Baker, Joseph is no stranger to the company’s legacy. He carries forward a deep respect for the culture of craftsmanship, collaboration, and family that Gary cultivated over decades. Under Joseph’s leadership, GB Construction remains rooted in those same principles—committed to excellence, driven by relationships, and focused on building not just structures, but trust and lasting impact within the community.
As the company enters this exciting new chapter, Joseph’s vision is clear: to honor the past, lead with integrity, and continue delivering the exceptional service and workmanship that clients have come to expect from GB Construction.
